South Korea women’s team thrash Myanmar at Asian Games — Korea Herald
South Korea’s women’s national football team defeated Myanmar 5-0 in the opening Group F match at the Asian Games in Japan. The match took place at Nagai Stadium in Osaka.
Kim Min-ji’s hat-trick
Midfielder Kim Min-ji scored a hat-trick, while defender Jang Seul-gi and Choe Yu-ri each added one goal. As Korea Herald reports, Kim opened the scoring shortly before the 30th minute with a left-footed shot from outside the penalty area. In the 33rd minute, she scored with a header following a pass from Jang.
Later, Jang Seul-gi found the bottom-right corner to make it 3-0. Kim completed her hat-trick in the 59th minute, while Choe Yu-ri set the final score in the 76th. The South Korean team also missed two penalties in the second half.

Upcoming group matches
The team led by Shin Sang-woo will play its next match against Bangladesh in Osaka before facing North Korea in Shizuoka. Earlier the same day, North Korea thrashed Bangladesh 10-0.
Shin Sang-woo earned a victory over his predecessor Colin Bell, who led South Korea’s national team from 2019 to 2024 and now coaches Myanmar. South Korea’s women’s team has not yet won Asian Games gold; it has three bronze medals.
