Zorya and Polissya played to a draw in the decisive match
In the opening minutes, the Luhansk side was the more dangerous. Viktor Skrypnyk’s men squandered two chances. First, Slesar failed to beat Buschan from a tight angle, and then Budkivsky shot wide of the post from inside the penalty area.
In the middle of the first half, there was an exchange of chances. Zhytomyr’s Krasnopir failed to finish off a cross from Babenko. Instead, Zorya midfielder Popara hit the frame of Polissya’s goal.
Early in the second half, Buschan reacted to a long-range shot by Slesar. The defenders hurriedly cleared the ball away. The “Polissya Wolves” stepped up their intensity midway through the half—Haiduchyk hit the crossbar with a header, and Nazarenko tested Saputin with a low shot.
In the final stretch, Polissya laid siege to Zorya’s goal. However, the Zhytomyr team created only one truly dangerous moment—the Luhansk goalkeeper reacted to a shot by Haiduchyk on the fly. Ruslan Rotan’s team missed the chance to move up to second place in the UPL. Zhytomyr now has 56 points. The Luhansk team remains in eighth place (43 points).
