Amazon has raised prices on Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, and eero due to higher memory costs

Amazon has raised prices on a number of its own devices, including Echo smart speakers, Fire TV media players, Kindle e-readers, and eero networking equipment. The company attributed this to a significant increase in the cost of memory and storage components, according to Fortune.

The price of the base Echo Dot model rose from $49.99 to $79.99, while the Echo Show 11 went from $219.99 to $249.99. The price of the 16 GB Kindle has gone up from $109.99 to $149.99, while the Kindle Paperwhite with the same storage capacity has gone up from $159.99 to $199.99.

The Fire TV Stick HD has gone up in price from $34.99 to $39.99, while the Fire TV Stick 4K Max has gone up from $59.99 to $84.99. The price of the eero 7 wireless network system has increased from $349.99 to $399.99, and the eero Pro 7 has gone from $699.99 to $799.99. The company has not raised prices on Ring devices.

An Amazon spokesperson confirmed the price changes and stated that consumer electronics manufacturers are facing a “significant increase in the cost of memory components and storage devices.” According to her, the company absorbed these costs on its own for as long as possible but recently adjusted prices across its product lines. Amazon also plans to run promotions on its devices throughout the year.

Fortune notes that amid a shortage of memory chips caused by high demand for computing power for artificial intelligence, other manufacturers have also changed their prices or product configurations. In June, Apple raised prices on Mac computers and iPads, while Microsoft announced plans to increase the price of Xbox consoles by $100–$150, depending on the model, and to discontinue configurations with 2 TB of storage. Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus also raised prices or reduced the storage capacity of their products.

In late July, Amazon CEO Andy Jesse told investors that the company expects to spend $220 billion in capital expenditures in 2026, primarily on building and equipping data centers for AI services. The previous estimate was $200 billion. According to him, even at this level of spending, Amazon will not have sufficient capacity to meet all expected demand in 2026 and 2027.
