NASA astronauts on the ISS will have Labor Day off — Space.com
Three NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station will have a day off on September 7 for the U.S. Labor Day holiday. European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot will also be excused from work, Space.com reports.
Jack Hathaway, Jessica Meir and Anil Menon will have the day off. Meanwhile, Russian cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov, Andrey Fedyaev and Anna Kikina will work on their regular schedule, NASA said on September 4.
Work with Progress spacecraft
The Russian crew will monitor the undocking of the Progress 94 cargo spacecraft from the Poisk module. The spacecraft is scheduled to leave the station on September 8, taking away trash and outdated equipment.

Progress 94 is to be replaced by the Progress 96 cargo spacecraft. Its launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan is scheduled for September 9, and its automated docking with the vacated port of the Poisk module is expected two days after launch.
Crew schedule
Hathaway, Meir, Adenot and Fedyaev arrived at the ISS in mid-February as part of the SpaceX Crew-12 mission. Dubrov, Kikina and Menon reached the station on July 14 aboard the Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
During long-duration ISS missions, NASA astronauts usually have days off and rest on major holidays. NASA notes that such rest is important for the health, well-being and productivity of crew members. At the same time, open flames are prohibited on the station, so astronauts cannot cook food on a grill. Crews try to celebrate major holidays together, including Christmas.
