Garmin unveils Fenix 9 smartwatches with brighter OLED displays
Garmin has unveiled the new line of rugged Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro smartwatches. The base model features an OLED display with peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits — twice that of the previous model. The price of the Fenix 9 with a 43 mm case starts at $999.99, The Verge reports.
More memory and faster maps
The Fenix 9 has 50% more RAM and an updated map engine designed to provide faster map scrolling. The watch is also equipped with scratch-resistant sapphire glass and 64 GB of storage.
New software features include Garmin Epic. It combines workouts over several days, weeks, or months into an “epic” with health data and sports performance indicators for that period. New endurance tracking metrics and expanded features for rucking workouts have also been added: users can change the weight of their gear during a workout.

According to Garmin, the Fenix 9 version with the largest 51 mm case will operate for up to 29 days in smartwatch mode.
Pro version with a titanium case
The Fenix 9 Pro model costs from $1,099.99 and has a titanium case. InReach satellite connectivity or LTE is available for all three sizes — 43, 47, and 51 mm — for an additional $100. A subscription costing $7.99 per month is required to use these capabilities.
The largest Fenix 9 Pro version has received a 1.5-inch OLED display for the first time. The smaller models in the line have screens measuring 1.3 or 1.4 inches diagonally. The 47 mm and 51 mm Fenix 9 Pro variants will also offer a solar-charging display. Garmin says it can provide up to 57 days of battery life.
