BeiDou industry in China may exceed $140 billion by 2030 — ECNS
In China, the volume of the industry related to the BeiDou Satellite Navigation System (BDS) may exceed 1 trillion yuan, or about $140 billion, during the 15th Five-Year Plan for 2026–2030. This forecast is contained in the 2026 report presented at the Fifth International BDS Application Summit in the city of Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, ECNS reports.

The summit began on Tuesday and brought together around 900 experts, scientists, business representatives, government bodies and international organizations from China and other countries. During the event, new BDS cooperation initiatives with Kazakhstan, Brazil and Malaysia were also announced.
Cambodian Minister of Post and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth said that BeiDou can provide backup communications when natural disasters disrupt terrestrial networks. According to him, Cambodia is also exploring broader use of BDS in its satellite industry.

Use of the system abroad
Alibek Nassimov, an engineer at the Kazakhstan Institute of Space Technology, noted that BDS can support vehicle and cargo tracking, cross-border freight management and road monitoring, including in remote areas.
According to the publication, the system is already used to operate smart ports in Peru, monitor bridges in the Maldives, support precision agriculture in Laos and dispatch taxis in Cambodia. China’s BeiDou Satellite Navigation System is one of four global navigation systems recognized by the UN and is used for emergency response, transport, infrastructure monitoring and agriculture.
