A Chinese electric car successfully pulled off Schumacher's stunt by driving along the ceiling of a tunnel
In China, the Dongfeng Group’s all-wheel-drive electric crossover, the Voyah Passion S, performed a 360-degree spin in a tunnel, recreating Michael Schumacher’s famous 2010 advertising stunt in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Special ramps were installed in the tunnel for this purpose.
To stay on the ceiling using centrifugal force, the electric car reached a critical speed of 130 km/h with the steering wheel turned at a 16-degree angle. The challenge was made more difficult by the fact that the Voyah Passion S is significantly larger and heavier than the Mercedes supercar, but the task was successfully completed. The test involved a top-of-the-line production model equipped with a dual-motor powertrain delivering 637 k.s. (475 kW) and a range of up to 700 km.
