Chinese artificial intelligence is rapidly taking over the Russian market
In 2026, Russian businesses are increasingly switching to Chinese AI models—Qwen, DeepSeek, GLM, and Kimi.
Demand for Chinese models has surged among customers of Russia’s largest cloud platforms. In the first half of 2026, consumption of their tokens on MWS Cloud reached 400 billion—11 times more than in all of 2025.
Qwen took the lead with 261.1 billion tokens. Next came GLM with 91.2 billion and Kimi with 81.4 billion.
In Yandex AI Studio, among foreign models, Qwen accounts for 21.2% of token consumption, DeepSeek for 13.5%, while the American GPT-OSS models account for 7.5%.
Cloud.ru also recorded a sharp increase in AI usage—in just under eight months of 2026, consumption increased 18-fold. A significant portion of the demand comes from Chinese models.
