LG creates virtual K-pop group to advertise washer-dryer

South Korean company LG Electronics has introduced the virtual female K-pop group AI-Dol to promote the 2026 version of the AI WashCombo washer-dryer. The digital group consists of five members, each representing one of the device’s key functions.

As Korea Herald reports, this is the first virtual idol group created by LG Electronics. The project was launched under the fictional label AWC Entertainment. The members represent, among other things, the appliance’s large capacity, the combination of washing and drying in one device, and artificial intelligence-based technologies for determining washing parameters.

“I Wash” song

AI-Dol released the track “I Wash,” a funk-electronic song intended to convey the technological nature of the device. The product name is repeatedly mentioned in the song, while the lyrics include laundry-related phrases such as “wash and spin.” The music video teaser recreates familiar visual techniques used by K-pop girl groups: the members walk through the streets and also appear in stylized studio photographs.

More current news is available on the UA.News Telegram channel Telegram.

According to the publication, the group will operate on digital platforms until the end of September. An LG Electronics representative explained to local media that washing machines are familiar household appliances for different generations, so the company sought an unconventional way to showcase the features of the new model.

AI WashCombo specifications

The 2026 AI WashCombo has a capacity of up to 25 kilograms for washing and up to 21 kilograms for drying. LG calls it the largest-capacity washer-dryer in Korea. The device is also equipped with a 7-inch display and the AI Time Sensing function, which calculates the cycle duration within three seconds after determining the load.

Virtual characters in marketing

LG previously used virtual influencer Kim Rae-a to present its products. She was introduced as a 23-year-old singer, songwriter, and DJ from Seoul; the character officially debuted at CES 2021. Korea Herald also cites examples of the virtual K-pop group Mangeum Boys, created by the Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency, and virtual artists Chuu and Mary, used by the educational platform NIUSN.
