New gadgets from TCL, Acer and iRobot announced at IFA 2026
New devices for home, work and entertainment were announced at IFA 2026 in Berlin — from a TCL smartphone with an e-book mode to an iRobot robot vacuum and a conceptual portable device from Acer. The Verge reports on a selection of notable announcements.
Smartphone and lighting
TCL unveiled the P80 Ultra, the first Nxtpaper phone with a 6.83-inch OLED display. The screen has a 120Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution, peak brightness of 3,200 nits and an anti-glare coating. Pressing a button activates Max Ink Mode — a monochrome mode with a paper-like display and a simplified Android interface, designed to reduce distractions and extend battery life.
Philips Hue announced the flexible Liane 360-degree Rope Lights. According to the company, OmniGlow technology provides uniform diffused light in all directions, while the lighting color can be changed. The 3-meter strip will cost $399.99, while the 5-meter version will cost $549.99.

Laptops and home appliances
Oukitel introduced the RG14-P laptop with a solar panel on its lid. Under “optimal solar lighting conditions,” it can charge the battery at up to 10W. The manufacturer estimates that restoring a drained battery to 50% will take about six hours. The model is expected to launch in November with a 14th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
Acer demonstrated the DualPlay Mini concept, an 8-inch Windows portable gaming device with a rotating display. The screen can be positioned above the mini keyboard, turning the device into a compact PC. The company also showed the 16-inch Vero 16, which provides tool-free access to several internal components, including the SSD and user-replaceable battery.
iRobot announced the $1,199 flagship Roomba Max 875 Combo robot vacuum. The model received the SealForce feature: when the device detects that it is cleaning a carpet, it lowers a sealing skirt around the cleaning head to increase suction. The robot also supports wet cleaning, uses lidar and a camera for autonomous navigation, and can overcome obstacles and thresholds up to 3.5 cm high.
