Patreon has introduced 30 new features for creators and content discovery
Patreon, a subscription platform for creators, has introduced 30 new and updated features for content discovery, community building, and audience analytics. Among the key changes are Clips—short video snippets for iOS—an updated recommendation system, and Niches, which are themed communities, according to TechCrunch.
The Clips feature allows creators to turn their videos into short, shareable clips. These can be downloaded and posted outside of Patreon—including on platforms like TikTok—or shared within Patreon’s own short-form format called Quips.
The company is also testing tools for creating previews of paid content. One of these will automatically highlight the most compelling moments from paid videos so that potential fans can preview the content before paying or subscribing. Another will allow creators to publish excerpts from longer text posts in the Quips format on their home feed. Native videos and Quips are also being rolled out for creators of adult-oriented content.
Patreon has changed its approach to recommendations. Previously, the algorithm primarily suggested creators similar to those the user already liked, which could have favored larger creators. Now, the system will compare individual posts more closely based on topic, skill, style, and other characteristics. Patreon believes this will help increase visibility for smaller creators as well.

The new “Niches” feature introduces themed communities where creators can participate in discussions around specific interests, subcultures, or fandoms. This should help fans discover more creators and content on topics that interest them. The platform is also launching live Q&A sessions during creators’ livestreams. Fan profiles and themed communities are currently in the early testing phase.
Separately, Patreon is adding more detailed analytics on revenue, subscriptions, and growth. In the Earnings tab, creators will be able to view earnings by subscription tier and payment schedule, while the Membership Insights section will provide data on free trial periods, chargeback attempts, gifted subscriptions, and active subscriptions. The updated Payments tab will show a complete record of funds deposited into and withdrawn from the creator’s account.
In the long term, the service plans to add AI-powered data collection protection, real-time spam detection, enhanced self-moderation, and additional verification measures. Some of the 30 announced features are still being tested, and new updates are expected to roll out over the coming months.
