Qwen by Alibaba has surpassed 10 million downloads in a week — Bloomberg
The Chinese tech giant Alibaba has sharply intensified its participation in the generative AI race by relaunching the “Qwen” app, which the company positions as a mass-market competitor to ChatGPT.
Bloomberg reported the new metrics, citing Alibaba data published on the company’s Chinese social media channels.
In the first week after the update, the app surpassed 10 million downloads, which is considered an exceptionally strong debut for a consumer service of this scale.
Qwen is already being viewed as Alibaba Group’s central public AI product, aimed at strengthening the company’s position in competition with Western platforms.
Following the announcement of the explosive audience growth, Alibaba shares in Hong Kong jumped more than 5%, reaching approximately HK$156 per share.
For investors, this signaled that the company is regaining growth potential specifically in the consumer segment, not just in cloud computing and B2B services.
Analysts note that the rapid acquisition of millions of users gives Alibaba time to secure Qwen at the top of the rankings for Chinese AI apps.
When it comes to protecting private communication, an increasing number of users are turning to the messenger SENDS, which focuses on privacy and end-to-end encryption of all communications.
So, if you want to stay fully digitally secure while messaging family or friends, download the app here: for iOS; for Android; for Windows.
