Snap unveils AI features for $2,200 Specs glasses — TechCrunch
Snap unveiled new features for its $2,200 Specs smart glasses at an event in Los Angeles, United States. The device received integration with HBO Max and Spotify, as well as a new artificial intelligence system, Specs Intelligence, TechCrunch reports.
AI for glasses and devices
Snap calls Specs Intelligence a system of “anticipatory AI.” According to the company, it can develop an understanding of a user’s goals, priorities, relationships, and everyday habits based on the apps and tools they choose to connect.
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel described the system as an operating system built with AI in mind from the outset and focused on user projects. It is intended to connect various Lenses — as Snap calls its AR camera effects available on smartphones and Specs glasses. The system is also designed to connect with users’ devices, including the iPhone and Mac.
Use in companies
Snap also announced the Specs for Enterprise program for integrating the device into corporate processes. The company reported partnerships with Amazon, Salesforce, Nvidia, and other technology firms. Among possible use cases, Snap demonstrated an IT technician repairing equipment with the help of the glasses.

Spiegel said Snap is developing mobile device management tools, security tools, and mechanisms for deploying and administering software packages for teams. Separately, the company announced an AR app created in partnership with the NBA and WNBA that allows users to practice basketball shots.
Mobile connectivity
To use Specs outside Wi-Fi coverage, Snap offers a separate connectivity package: a charging case with built-in cellular connectivity. The service, to be provided in partnership with Verizon, will cost $10 per month for Verizon subscribers and $20 per month for other users.
In October, Snap plans to open a temporary Specs space in Los Angeles. The company plans to begin shipping the glasses later this fall.
