Soundboks unveils 14-pound Rider portable speaker — Rolling Stone
Danish audio equipment manufacturer Soundboks has released the Rider portable speaker, which has become the brand’s lightest model. The device weighs 14 pounds and is already on sale for $599, Rolling Stone reports.
Protection and battery life
The Rider has an IP66 water- and dust-resistance rating. The corners of the housing are fitted with rubberized bumpers designed to protect the speaker and surfaces from damage. Handles are provided for carrying, while a carrying strap can be purchased separately.
The speaker’s battery can be removed for charging. According to the manufacturer, at moderate volume it provides up to 35 hours of operation. Owners of other Soundboks speakers can also use the same batteries in different devices from the brand.

Sound and connectivity
The speaker is equipped with a 1.2-inch tweeter and an 8-inch woofer. The maximum volume claimed for the Rider is 118 dB. The device supports Bluetooth and has a 3.5 mm audio jack for wired connections.
The Soundboks app allows users to adjust the equalizer: preset Bass+, Indoor and Outdoor modes are available, as well as the option to create custom profiles. The manufacturer positions the lighter model for use both indoors and outdoors.
