Also, a startup that spun off from Rivian, has raised another $150 million
The micromobility startup Also, which spun off from electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian last year, raised $150 million in a Series D funding round. According to the company, the funds will be used to accelerate the development of autonomous driving technologies and create several types of autonomous delivery vehicles, TechCrunch reports.
The round was led by investment firm Prysm Capital. Previous investors Eclipse, Greenoaks, and MVP Ventures also participated. Since its founding less than two years ago, Also has raised a total of $455 million.
According to Also, future autonomous models will use the same electric architecture that the company developed for its consumer pedal-assist e-bike and commercial electric four-wheeled cargo vehicle. Jay Park, co-founder and managing partner of Prysm Capital, stated that the fund backed Also for the same reasons it previously invested in Rivian, specifically because of its approach to developing compact electric vehicles through vertical integration.

A few months earlier, Also raised $200 million in a funding round led by Greenoaks. At that time, Prysm Capital also participated in the financing, and DoorDash made a strategic investment. As part of that deal, Also and DoorDash entered into a multi-year commercial agreement to develop and deploy autonomous delivery vehicles.
Also began as an internal experimental project at Rivian, stemming from Rivian founder and CEO Ar Jay Skarindge’s interest in micromobility. The team was joined by experts from Apple, Google, Specialized, and Tesla. In 2025, it became a standalone startup, was named Also, and secured $150 million in funding. Rivian retains a minority stake in Also, and Skaring serves on the company’s board of directors.
In October, Also unveiled its first two-wheeled vehicle, the TM-B, priced at $4,500, as well as two four-wheeled vehicles, one of which will be supplied to Amazon. The company announced that it has begun shipping the Launch version of its electric bike to customers, a launch that had previously been delayed by several months. It has also opened pre-orders and configuration options for the Performance and Standard versions; according to the company, the first shipments of these models will begin this fall.
