A global program to deploy robots was launched in Beijing

On August 20, at the 2026 World Robotics Conference in Beijing, the Global Program for Research on Robot Applications was launched. The initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of robotics in real-world settings, according to ECNS.

The program was jointly launched by the World Robotics Cooperation Organization (WRCO) and the Chinese Institute of Electronics. It calls for industry associations, research institutions, and robotics companies from various countries to submit proposals regarding the needs for specific robot application scenarios.

Each year, the program will select 1,000 high-potential scenarios from among the proposals submitted by global participants. Robotics products will be provided free of charge for practical testing under these conditions, and plans are in place to adapt them and conduct specialized further development in accordance with the identified needs.

Feedback received during the practical use of the robots will be used to accelerate product improvement. According to the initiators’ vision, the program is also intended to foster the development of an open international ecosystem for innovation in robotics and to remove barriers to bringing technological solutions to international markets.
