In South Korea, Nexon Games signs KTO deal to develop Woochi the Wayfarer
In South Korea, Nexon Games has signed an agreement with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) to develop the adventure game Woochi the Wayfarer. Under the agreement, KTO will provide developers with around 70,000 photographs and 1,000 video clips featuring natural landscapes, cultural heritage sites and other locations across the country, Korea Herald reports.
Korean locations in a fantasy world
Nexon Games plans to use KTO materials together with resources collected by its own team during location scouting. The company intends to create a fantasy world of the Joseon era unique to the game by reimagining real Korean landscapes in a fictional setting.
A Nexon representative said that cooperation with KTO is expected to help improve the quality of Korea-inspired game environments. The company will also consider tourism promotion opportunities, marketing and other related projects as it prepares the game for release and subsequent commercial operations.

A game based on a classic work
Woochi the Wayfarer is a single-player AAA action-adventure game inspired by the classic Korean novel Jeon Woo-chi-jeon. Its protagonist is Jeon Woo-chi, a Taoist wizard who uses mystical powers to fight supernatural beings. The game's plot will be an original story based on the classic work.
Nexon Games also said it would continue discussions with KTO on ways to promote Korea's beauty domestically and abroad.
