Experts in Israel warn of accelerated AI-driven cyberattacks — Jerusalem Post
In Israel, cybersecurity experts said that the development of artificial intelligence is significantly accelerating the discovery and exploitation of vulnerabilities in digital systems. A global coalition of more than 150 cybersecurity companies called on governments and businesses to update their defenses, as malicious actors could gain a lasting advantage. Among the signatories to the coalition's statement are Anthropic, OpenAI, KPMG, Visa, Oracle, Microsoft and Palo Alto. They called on organizations to raise security standards and on governments to urgently provide and coordinate defensive cyber technologies at the local, national and international levels.
Risks to critical infrastructure
The statement says that AI systems enable attackers to identify and exploit weaknesses much faster than specialists can respond. The coalition warned that in the coming months, AI-enabled cyberattacks could become more widespread and more sophisticated as model capabilities grow.
According to the signatories' assessment, companies and public services on which communities depend could be at risk, including hospitals, water treatment plants and infrastructure that supports the functioning of the internet.

Old vulnerabilities and new speed
Omer Or, head of cybersecurity at KPMG in Israel, told the publication that traditional defense models may no longer be sufficient for organizations. According to him, AI strengthens the offensive capabilities of all categories of malicious actors, from individual hackers to criminal groups and state actors.
Or also said that advanced models enable malicious actors to create zero-day vulnerabilities 100 times faster than a person without such tools. He added that AI finds weaknesses in legacy systems and operational technology systems that had previously received less attention.
Ariel Litmanovich, founder and CTO of Aryon Security, stressed that configuration errors, excessive access privileges and weak authentication remain the main problems. At the same time, he said, AI reduces the time needed to find and exploit such shortcomings. He believes that organizations need to integrate AI into internal defense processes, detect anomalies faster and strengthen incident response.
