Scientists have identified a possible mechanism of aging linked to bone marrow

Researchers have found that age-related changes in bone marrow stem cells may exacerbate chronic inflammation in the body and affect muscle function, lung function, and metabolism.

The scientists focused on the SIRT3 protein, whose levels decline in blood stem cells with age. Experiments on mice showed that increasing its production helps reduce the number of inflammatory immune cells.

The test animals subsequently showed improved muscle and lung function, memory, and blood sugar regulation.

At the same time, the researchers emphasize that the results cannot yet be directly applied to humans. The experiments were conducted on mice, and the study does not prove that increasing SIRT3 levels can slow aging or extend human life.
