WeChat bans AI-generated accounts
The Chinese platform WeChat has tightened its rules and banned the publication of content created solely by artificial intelligence (AI) without human involvement in official accounts.
It is now prohibited to use AI, scripts, and automated tools for creating and mass publishing materials. The new rules also ban the promotion of educational content or services that enable automated content creation.
Violations may result in reduced reach, content removal, and account suspension. The company emphasized that it supports the use of technologies to improve efficiency but opposes fully automated systems replacing human work.
WeChat is one of the largest Chinese communication and content publishing platforms, owned by Tencent. It boasts a vast user base and plays a crucial role in digital life in China.
These new restrictions reflect WeChat's intention to ensure content quality and maintain the human element in public communications.
This decision may affect the popularity of content automation in China and lead to further regulation in the AI field.
