The 33rd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received an honorary designation

The 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been awarded an honorary name. From now on, it will bear the name of Dmytro “Baida” Vyshnevetskyi.

“To bestow upon the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the honorary name ‘Dmytro ‘Baida’ Vyshnevetskyi’ and henceforth to refer to it as the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Dmytro ‘Baida’ Vyshnevetskyi of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the decree states.

The honorary title was conferred with the aim of reviving the historical traditions of the national army and in recognition of the brigade’s exemplary performance of its duties in defending Ukraine’s territorial integrity and independence.

Dmytro “Baida” Vyshnevetskyi was a Ukrainian political and military figure and one of the organizers of the Zaporizhian Cossacks. The Khortytsia Castle on the island of Mala Khortytsia, which he built, is considered the prototype of the Zaporizhian Sich.

The corresponding decree was signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy awarded the 107th Separate Aviation Wing of the Air Force with an honorary distinction.

In addition, Zelenskyy awarded scholarships to the children of journalists who were killed in the line of duty.

Zelenskyy honored 34 Ukrainians on Volunteer Day.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored 362 military personnel with state awards, 176 of them posthumously. The awards were granted for courage, dedication, and the defense of the country’s sovereignty. Among the honors are orders, medals, and the “Cross of Combat Merit.”
