The administrator of a Telegram channel from Kropyvnytskyi was convicted for publishing information about the TCC
On July 27 in Kropyvnytskyi, a court handed down a sentence to the administrator of a Telegram channel who had disseminated information about the work locations of employees at regional recruitment and social support centers. The man was sentenced to five years in prison but was exempted from serving the sentence and placed on probation.
The Kirovsky District Court of Kropyvnytskyi found a local resident guilty of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a state of emergency (Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The court established that in January–February 2025, the defendant created and administered a Telegram channel where information was published about the locations where draft notices were being delivered and the routes taken by military personnel from the Territorial Recruitment Center and the Special Forces in Kropyvnytskyi and the region.
To conceal their activities, channel participants used code words. Specifically, the word “sunny” indicated the presence of TCC representatives, while “cloudy” meant the police were present.
According to the court, the channel was created so that those subject to military service could avoid mobilization measures. The administrator moderated posts, verified information from users, and ensured the channel’s continuous operation.
At the time it was shut down, the channel had over a thousand subscribers. The case file contains dozens of messages in which users warned about the locations of the TCC and the movements of law enforcement officers.
During the trial, the man fully admitted his guilt, entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor, and agreed to cooperate with the investigation to identify similar offenses.
The court sentenced him to five years in prison but suspended the sentence with a two-year probation period. The seizure of the confiscated cell phone was also lifted, and the court ordered it to be returned to its owner.
