An FSB agent was sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempting to blow up the Kherson Regional Trade and Communications Center
Based on evidence provided by the Security Service of Ukraine, a court sentenced an FSB agent who was planning a terrorist attack in Kherson to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The suspect was detained while attempting to leave a bag containing a homemade explosive device near the entrance to the regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center. According to the Russian special services’ plan, the bomb was to be detonated remotely immediately after it was planted.
The investigation established that the convicted man is an unemployed resident of Cherkasy whom Russia recruited via Telegram channels while he was looking for work. Before preparing the explosion in Kherson, he had already carried out another task for the enemy—setting fire to Ukrzaliznytsia relay cabinets in the Cherkasy region. To carry out the terrorist attack, the agent used explosives from a hidden cache, the coordinates of which he received from his handlers.
During his arrest, a homemade bomb and a mobile phone containing evidence of communication with Russia were seized from the suspect. Russian intelligence agencies tracked their agent’s movements in real time via a special app on his smartphone. The court found the man guilty of treason and sabotage committed under martial law as part of a premeditated conspiracy by a group of individuals.
Earlier, the Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a large-scale explosion in the center of Dnipro by apprehending a Russian intelligence operative “red-handed.”
As a reminder, a man was detained in Kyiv for promising “medical exemption” to evade mobilization.
Additionally, a Russian agent who was planning the assassination of General Biletsky was detained within the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
