More than 700 communities in Ukraine have lost power due to severe weather; there have been fatalities

Units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue to deal with the aftermath of the severe weather that has hit several regions of Ukraine.

This was reported by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

According to him, the squall winds caused the most damage in the Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Kyiv regions. In total, more than 700 settlements across 19 regions are currently without power.

Roofs of residential buildings, public utilities, educational institutions, and vehicles have been damaged. Unfortunately, three deaths have been reported—in Zaporizhzhia, Zakarpattia, and Cherkasy regions.

Rescue workers from the State Emergency Service carried out over 400 emergency responses the day before: they cut up fallen trees, dismantled dangerous structures, and assisted those affected. Eight people were injured as a result of the storm, including a child.

Separately, in Zaporizhzhia, a squall damaged the roof of a concert hall right in the middle of a performance. Rescuers quickly dismantled the damaged structures and ensured the safety of the audience.

Police stepped up patrols on the roads and organized detours around blocked areas to ensure the work of emergency services and utility crews.

Restoration work is currently underway, involving rescue workers and utility crews.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, strong winds will continue in most regions today. A Level I hazard warning (yellow) has been issued. Citizens are urged to exercise caution.
