A doctor in Chernihiv Oblast is facing trial over the death of a 12-year-old child
In the Chernihiv region, an indictment has been filed against a doctor from the Nizhyn district whose actions, according to investigators, led to the death of a 12-year-old child.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The indictment was filed by the head of the Nizhyn District Prosecutor’s Office. The medical worker is charged with improper performance of professional duties, which resulted in serious consequences for the minor.
According to the investigation, in June 2025, the pediatrician failed to take into account the full scope of the medical history and diagnosed the child with an acute infectious disease, incorrectly assessing its severity.
Despite suspicion of a severe bacterial infection, the doctor, according to law enforcement officials, did not follow the mandatory protocol, which requires immediate hospitalization. Instead, outpatient observation was chosen.
As a result, according to the investigation, the child developed infectious-toxic shock, which led to death.
Earlier, in the Zhytomyr district, a four-year-old child was injured during a walk when a large chunk of snow fell from the roof of a kindergarten.
