Ukraine and Norway are launching a joint drone manufacturing venture
Ukraine and Norway have agreed to establish the first joint production facility for Ukrainian drones on Norwegian territory. The plan is to manufacture several thousand mid-strike drones, which will be transferred in full to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The Norwegian side is funding the project using additional funds included in a broader package of defense support for Ukraine in 2026, totaling over $7 billion.
The agreement was signed in Kyiv by the Norwegian Ambassador to Ukraine, Lars Ragnar Aalered Hansen, and the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for European Integration, Serhiy Boev.
“The relevant agreement was signed in Kyiv… The agreement opens up the possibility of scaling up the production of Ukrainian technologies that have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield and strengthening the defense capabilities of both countries,” the statement reads.
In 2026, Norway plans to allocate over $1.5 billion to purchase Ukrainian-made weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The first unmanned systems manufactured under the joint production agreement are expected to be delivered to the Ukrainian military by this summer.
The agreement also provides for the development of industrial cooperation between the countries, including scientific research and technological development in the defense sector.
