The Kernel agricultural holding has allocated approximately $40 million to restore its facilities following attacks by the Russian Federation
Since the start of the full-scale war launched by Russia, the Kernel agricultural holding has invested approximately $40 million in the restoration of facilities damaged by Russian attacks. The company’s CEO, Yevgen Osipov, announced this at the Forbes Ukraine Economic Resilience Forum.
“We have invested about $40 million in reconstruction during this time. But right now, we have some facilities that are not critical to production, and we are not rebuilding them at this time. In other words, we are rebuilding only what we cannot do without,” Osipov said.
He noted that Kernel is not considering relocating abroad, as the company serves as infrastructure for the Ukrainian agribusiness sector, and a significant portion of the country’s agricultural output passes through its facilities.
“We are, in essence, an infrastructure company for the Ukrainian agribusiness sector, for every farmer, because a large portion of the goods produced in the country passes through us. And from this perspective, relocating our business model somewhere else would essentially mean building a new one, so we cannot relocate it,” Osipov noted.
According to him, the company is instead focusing on maintaining the operation of Ukrainian infrastructure and exporting smaller volumes of products with higher added value.
“We’re focusing on exporting smaller volumes that are more capital-intensive and have higher added value, and on always being able to buy oilseeds from Ukrainian farmers, pay them, and ship these volumes,” the CEO emphasized.
The Kernel Agricultural Holding is the world’s largest producer and exporter of sunflower oil, Ukraine’s largest grain exporter, the operator of an extensive network of logistics assets, and a leading producer of grains and oilseeds in Ukraine. It is one of the largest producers and sellers of bottled oil in Ukraine. It is engaged in the cultivation and sale of agricultural products.
According to results for the first nine months of fiscal year 2026 (FY, starting July 1, 2025), Kernel saw its net profit decline by 5% to $208 million, revenue increase by 0.4% to $3.092 billion, and EBITDA by 1%, to $403 million.
For the full 2026 FY, Kernel’s terminals handled a record 9.587 million metric tons of agricultural products, up 5% from the previous year. The total volume of oilseed processing for fiscal year 2026 amounted to 3.185 million metric tons, which is 8% less than in fiscal year 2025.
