Former Member of Parliament Boryslav Bereza, against whom the National Security and Defense Council had previously imposed sanctions, stated that he was allegedly being followed in Vienna by people he associates with Ukrainian intelligence agencies. He reported this on August 3 on social media.
According to Bereza, unknown individuals appeared near his registered address in the Austrian capital and, he claims, attempted to gather information about him.
“I didn’t think I’d have to record a video like this. But when people linked to the Ukrainian intelligence service show up at my registered address in Vienna and try to gather information about me, I can no longer remain silent.
They have been identified. They were monitoring the place where I periodically show up. The former MP also stated that he had previously been allegedly warned about possible provocations in the event of his return to Ukraine, in particular about the likelihood of a fabricated criminal case,” the former MP wrote.
Berezha said he plans to contact Austrian law enforcement agencies and the Council of Europe to have them investigate the circumstances of the incident.
At the same time, he speculated that an individual law enforcement officer or representatives of the Ukrainian authorities might have been behind the surveillance, but emphasized that he has no evidence to support these assumptions.
