Most Ukrainians would support a ceasefire only if security guarantees were in place
More than 60% of Ukrainians are willing to support a ceasefire along the current front line, provided that the “European Shield” security plan is implemented, which involves the deployment of European troops near the line of contact to repel a possible new attack by Russia.
Without clear security guarantees, financial support, or weapons, the majority of citizens categorically reject the idea of a ceasefire.
During the survey, KMIS pollsters tested four different scenarios with the current front line remaining unchanged, with each respondent evaluating only one random scenario. The scenario with no guarantees was rejected by 61% of those surveyed, and the symbolic presence of European forces far from the combat zone failed to convince 49% of respondents. At the same time, the option involving large-scale arms supplies and funding from allies received 53% approval, confirming the key role of a reliable defense component for Ukrainian society in the matter of a potential freeze on the military conflict.
This is evidenced by the results of a nationwide survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is allegedly ready for negotiations to end the war against Ukraine, but sees no readiness for dialogue on the Ukrainian side.
Putin is not changing course and continues to finance the war.
