About 70% of police officers have already served on the front lines — Vygivsky

Ivan Vyhovsky, Head of the National Police of Ukraine, stated that the vast majority of the agency’s personnel have firsthand experience serving in a combat zone.

According to him, as of today, about 70% of law enforcement officers have been or remain deployed on the front lines.

The head of the National Police noted that this strategy aligns with Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko’s directive to maximize the deployment of police officers to frontline duties.

This allows law enforcement officers to gain the necessary combat experience and psychological resilience in extreme conditions.

“Ihor Volodymyrovych Klymenko previously stated that it is essential for as many police officers as possible to serve on the front lines. About 70% of our police officers have already been deployed or are currently deployed on the front lines in one way or another,” the National Police Chief said during a media briefing.

Along with issues of combat training, Vygivsky highlighted the critical challenges the agency faces domestically.

Among the main problems, he highlighted a significant shortage of personnel, low salaries, and the constant physical exhaustion of employees.

The staffing situation remains tense: currently, the patrol police is understaffed by about 25%, and in major cities such as Kyiv, this figure is even higher.

This forces administrative staff to be deployed on operational duty on the streets to reinforce patrols.

“In reality, the situation is very difficult. People are also exhausted, working around the clock. The National Police has its own mandate; we ensure order within the country,” the agency head emphasized, describing the strain on the system.

It has been revealed who is now leading the Patrol Police following General Zhukov’s resignation

In the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, an unknown assailant opened fire on people.
