Bulgaria is ready to increase gas transit to Ukraine

Bulgaria is ready to hold consultations with Ukraine on increasing the volume of natural gas transit through its territory.

This was stated by Bulgaria’s new ambassador to Ukraine, Zlatin Krastev, after presenting his credentials to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the diplomat, Sofia is ready to work with Kyiv to explore opportunities for expanding gas transit. The Bulgarian government is also committed to rapidly developing cooperation with Ukraine in the energy sector and working on specific joint projects.

Increasing gas import capacity is crucial for Ukraine amid Russian attacks on its energy and gas infrastructure. Additional supply routes could help the country secure the necessary gas volumes and strengthen its preparations for the heating season.
