Budanov does not expect the conditions for a ceasefire to be in place until spring

Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia may resume as early as the end of September, but the actual conditions for a ceasefire will likely not be in place until spring at the earliest.

According to Kirill Budanov, head of the Office of the President, a new round of consultations could begin after the parliamentary elections in Russia and a few weeks before the midterm elections in the U.S.

The visit to Kyiv by U.S. representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner could serve as a catalyst for resuming negotiations.

At the same time, Budanov warned that Russia is preparing for a new large-scale winter campaign of strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure. According to him, this will be the fourth such campaign since the start of the full-scale invasion.
