Some Shahed drones are now controlled online, changing the rules of warfare
About one in five Russian strike drones of the Shahed type are already equipped with an online control system that operates via networks from the territory of the Russian Federation. This means that some of these drones are no longer fully autonomous and can receive commands during flight. This was reported in military circles, highlighting the growing technological sophistication of such attacks.
Approximately 20% of Shahed-type strike drones used by Russia against Ukraine now have the capability for online control via networks operating from Russian territory. This was stated on television by Defense Ministry adviser Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov, who commented on how widespread this technology has become among these drones.
According to him, this system is becoming increasingly common for some enemy UAVs and effectively allows their behavior to be modified or adjusted during flight. He stated directly: “It is very widespread. We now see that about 20% of these Shaheds have online control thanks to networks operating from the territory of the Russian Federation.”
Beskrestnov also commented on his condition following an incident in which his home was hit by a jet-powered Shahed drone. He said that he suffered health issues but survived and plans to continue working. “I currently have some health problems, but the most important thing is that I survived. I intend to continue working to defend our country,” he said.
According to him, his home and personal property were completely destroyed as a result of the attack, which he also confirmed in his statement.
In the Odesa region, fraud involving military salaries was uncovered.
It is also reported that between 2022 and 2026, the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Military Administration developed a systematic scheme to avoid open tenders, concluding more than 92% of all contracts through direct agreements.
Journalists from UA.NEWS contacted the Odesa Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center regarding the lack of response from a district office about the military registration status of Dmytro Verbytskyi, who resigned from the prosecutor’s office amid a scandal over illicit enrichment.
