Police in Lviv Oblast have arrested a suspect for organizing forced labor

Law enforcement officers in the Lviv region have identified and detained a man who, for more than two decades, kept a person in forced labor, subjecting them to brutal torture and inhumane living conditions.

This was reported by representatives of the National Police of Ukraine, who revealed details of the long-standing abuse of the victim.

The story began in the early 2000s, when the victim found himself in a helpless state, without a permanent residence or means of support.

Taking advantage of the man’s vulnerability, the suspect forced him into labor exploitation that lasted more than 20 years without any financial compensation.

Throughout this time, the man was forced to perform the heaviest physical labor, deprived of basic rights and the most basic living conditions.

The perpetrator exploited the victim’s complete financial and psychological dependence to suppress any will to resist or escape.

“Throughout this entire period, the man was forced to perform the hardest physical labor without any pay. Living conditions were inhumane: in winter, the victim lived in a farm building unfit for habitation, and in summer, he was taken outside the settlement and locked in a metal container in completely unsanitary conditions,” the police noted.

For any dissatisfaction with the quality of the work performed, the “employer” subjected the man to regular physical and psychological abuse.

Prolonged isolation and constant pressure led to the victim losing the ability to defend himself against the perpetrator’s abuse.

The horrific living conditions and exhausting labor significantly undermined the victim’s health, triggering a series of chronic illnesses.

The rescued man is currently under the care of specialists at a medical facility, where he is receiving comprehensive care and psychological support.
