Will the deferral be automatically extended beyond May 4?
As the key date of May 4 approaches, the issue of extending deferments from conscription has once again come to the fore in Ukrainian society.
Despite the absence of an official decree extending general mobilization for the next period, some citizens have already seen their status updated in government registries.
As noted by attorney Daria Tarasenko, the process is currently taking place in stages. Many conscripts are already seeing new deferment dates in the “Reserve+” app, where the end date is often listed as August 1.
This indicates the launch of algorithms for automatically updating data based on information available in the registries.
According to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 560, legally, the deferment must be tied to the duration of general mobilization.
However, the technical update of statuses in digital services allows citizens to be certain of their status in advance and avoid unnecessary visits to territorial recruitment centers.
It is important to understand that the absence of an immediate update of the date in the app is not a cause for panic.
“The process is gradual, and in some cases, changes may appear later,” experts explain.
The automatic system works primarily for those whose grounds for deferment are clearly confirmed by data from other government databases.
The list of categories eligible for automatic extension includes individuals with disabilities of all groups, as well as parents of children with disabilities.
This also applies to parents of large families raising three or more children under the age of 18 within a single marriage.
Special attention is given to full-time and dual-track undergraduate and graduate students, as well as education sector employees.
Automatic confirmation of status is also provided for individuals who care for relatives with disabilities in Groups I and II, or who have a spouse with such a status.
Updated rules for obtaining a deferment from mobilization are in effect in Ukraine, though the list of grounds for deferment remains unchanged.
Serhiy Hryvko, a People’s Deputy from the “Servant of the People” party, has registered a bill in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to amend the Law “On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization.”
