Kramatorsk City Council Official Caught Possessing Child Pornography – Photo

A 54-year-old city council official was detained in Kramatorsk on reasonable suspicion of accessing and storing prohibited content, as well as illegal possession of weapons. 

According to investigators, the suspect uploaded several pornographic photos and videos featuring minors and young children to his personal Google cloud storage account. The presence of child pornography in the seized materials was officially confirmed by a comprehensive computer-technical and forensic art examination.

During a warrant-authorized search of the suspect’s residence on July 2, law enforcement officers discovered and seized electronic devices (two laptops, a cell phone, and a router), as well as an unregistered arsenal of weapons: two pistols (a Makarov and a TT), over 200 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, a fragmentation hand grenade, and a defensive-offensive anti-personnel grenade along with fuses.

The official has now been notified of his status as a suspect in crimes under Part 1 of Article 301-1 (accessing child pornography for the purpose of storage) and Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal acquisition and possession of firearms and ammunition) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pretrial investigation in the criminal proceedings is ongoing.

As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada proposed introducing chemical castration for pedophiles, but the corresponding bill was vetoed by the president. The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed creating a public registry of pedophiles.

On November 20, the Dzerzhinsky District Court of Kharkiv extended the pretrial detention of a physical education teacher suspected of sexually abusing minors and rape.
