Danylo Korbabych has been appointed the new CEO of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) has appointed Danilo Korbabich as the organization’s new executive director. He succeeds Igor Mykhalchyshyn, who, after ten years in the role, has decided to focus on new professional opportunities.

UCC President Oleksandra Khychiy noted that Danylo Korbabych has extensive experience in public policy, government relations, and active community engagement.

“We are delighted to welcome Danilo as the Congress’s new Executive Director. He brings with him an impressive professional background, particularly in the areas of public policy and government relations. Danylo has been an active volunteer and member of our community since his youth and brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise that will be valuable assets to the Congress and our community,” Khychiy emphasized.

Throughout his professional career, Danilo Korbabich has served as:

  • an advisor to two members of parliament;
  • an advisor to three ministers;
  • an advisor to the Premier of Ontario;
  • an advisor to the Leader of the Government in the Senate of Canada;
  • an advisor to a former Prime Minister of Canada.

In addition to his work in the public sector, he spent over ten years in the corporate sector. He began his career at an international law firm and later headed a practice at one of Canada’s leading firms specializing in government and public relations.

Korbabych has long been actively involved in the Ukrainian community in Canada.

In particular, he:

  • served on the board of directors of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress;
  • chaired one of the UCC’s committees;
  • served on the board of directors of the Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce;
  • served twice as president of the Ukrainian Students’ Union of Canada (USUC);
  • was a member of Plast in his youth;
  • performed as a soloist and taught bandura in the Canadian Bandura Ensemble.

Commenting on his appointment, the new CEO of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and stated that he looks forward to active cooperation with the Ukrainian community.

“I am very grateful and honored to accept this opportunity to lead the Congress’s headquarters. I very much look forward to working with the Congress’s dynamic membership, our generous donors, and dedicated volunteers—thanks to whom our community is one of the most influential and active in Canada,” he said.

The Executive Director reports to the President and the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and is responsible for implementing the organization’s mission, its strategic development, and the achievement of its financial goals.

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress, founded in 1940, represents the interests of the Ukrainian-Canadian community before the Canadian government and society, unites the country’s major Ukrainian organizations, promotes the development of ties with Ukraine, and supports the growth of the Ukrainian community in Canada.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

As a reminder, Yuriy Tkachuk was previously appointed CEO of JSC “Ukrgazvydobuvannya.” On December 26, Serhiy Koretskyi, head of “Naftogaz,” introduced the new leader of the team.
