On August 20, the State Bureau of Investigations, in cooperation with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General, is conducting a large-scale operation called “Justice for Soldiers,” involving investigative actions in various regions of Ukraine. As part of 21 criminal proceedings, 72 searches are scheduled, and charges are expected to be filed against 22 individuals, the SBI reported.
“On August 20, SBI staff, in close cooperation with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, launched a large-scale operation called ‘Justice for Soldiers,’” the statement reads.

Its goal is “to expose military personnel who are only nominally on active duty, illegally receive payments, or are effectively working in the private interests of their commanders. Particular attention is being paid to cases where subordinates are assigned to construction, maintenance, and other private work instead of performing their military duties.”
Investigative actions are being conducted in various regions of Ukraine. A total of 72 searches are planned as part of 21 criminal proceedings.

The majority of the cases, as noted, “concern the illegal accrual and receipt of payments. Fifty-eight searches are being conducted in 12 of these cases. Based on their results, it is planned to serve notices of suspicion to 20 individuals.”

“Another five searches are being conducted in a case regarding the illegal use of military personnel’s labor. Nine are being carried out in a case of corruption, in which charges are being prepared against two suspects,” the statement said.

In total, based on the results of the operation, charges are expected to be filed against 22 individuals.
“Detailed results of this operation will be made public after the completion of the initial investigative actions,” the State Bureau of Investigation emphasized.

In addition, the DBR has completed investigations into four more criminal cases involving illegal payments to military personnel. Indictments against 16 individuals are scheduled to be filed with the court.
Special operation by NABU and the SAP: Vadym Stolar and Maksym Mykytas may be implicated in the case.
