The Wild Hornets Are Launching Their Own Anti-Drone Air Defense Network

The Ukrainian miltech company “Dyki Shershni” has begun developing its own air defense network to combat Russian attack drones. The company was officially granted the necessary authority by an order from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

The network will include remote control centers, a remote drone launch system based on Hornet Vision Ctrl technology, and field positions. Work began on October 5.

The company noted that it does not plan to sell services for the protection of individual facilities. Funding for its own air defense system will be provided by “Wild Hornets,” and the “Night Hornets” unit will operate as part of Ukraine’s overall air defense system under the command of the Ukrainian Air Force.

“Night Hornets” already has combat experience. According to the company, the unit has destroyed more than 50 Russian “Shaheds,” including jet-powered ones. A significant portion of the targets were struck using remotely piloted interceptors.

The unit’s instructors also train Ukrainian military personnel to operate Sting interceptor drones. Since the summer of 2025, they have trained over 1,000 pilots.

Since May 2026, the “Night Hornets” have been combining military training with combat operations. During the day, instructors conduct training, and at night, they assist the Defense Forces in shooting down Russian attack drones.

Previously, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense codified and approved the “Nebokray” mobile workshops for use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The system is designed for the repair and maintenance of drones.

The Ministry of Defense has certified and authorized the use of the new “General Chereshnya” FPV unmanned aerial system within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense has standardized and approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine a new Ukrainian-made unmanned aerial system, the V-1. These ultra-light bombers are designed to strike concentrations of personnel, vehicles, and armored vehicles.
