A child driving an ATV struck a man in the Lviv region

In the Lviv region, a 10-year-old boy driving an ATV struck a pedestrian, who sustained injuries and was hospitalized. The police have opened a criminal investigation and are looking into all the circumstances of the incident, according to the Lviv Regional Police.

 

In the Yavoriv District of Lviv Region, a routine ride on an ATV ended in a serious traffic accident in which an adult man was injured, and the person behind the wheel turned out to be a 10-year-old child, which prompted law enforcement to pay special attention to the circumstances of the incident.

The incident occurred on May 15 in the village of Pidluby, where, according to preliminary police data, the boy was driving a Common Scorpion 200 ATV and struck a 39-year-old local resident who was on the road. “As law enforcement preliminarily established, the 10-year-old driver of the Common Scorpion 200 ATV, a resident of the village of Pidluby, struck a pedestrian, a 39-year-old local resident. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian sustained injuries and was hospitalized,” according to a statement from the Lviv Regional Police.

The injured man was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving necessary medical care, while investigators have already opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and are determining how the child gained access to the ATV and under what circumstances the collision occurred.

The police remind the public that the maximum penalty under this article is up to three years of restricted freedom with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles, and all details of the incident are currently being verified as part of the pre-trial investigation.

In Zakarpattia, a court sentenced a former boarding school teacher to 10 years in prison for attempting to sell an 11-month-old boy under the guise of adoption. Along with the sentence, the man’s property was confiscated. 

On May 14, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed in the first reading draft law No. 15167, which provides for the creation of a special fund for a military levy. According to the document, all proceeds from this levy will be used exclusively for the financial support of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel. 

On May 14, the Ukrainian parliament approved amendments to the Statute of the Garrison and Guard Services of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
