More than 13,000 applications have been submitted to the National System of Researchers of Ukraine
More than 13,000 Ukrainian researchers have submitted applications to the National Researcher System of Ukraine.
Once the data verification process is complete, the 2,650 most productive researchers will receive government scholarships of 10,000 hryvnias per month for two years.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Researcher System received over 13,000 applications. Among the applicants:
- 6,500 women;
- 6,500 men;
- about 2,500 young scientists;
- 366 war veterans.
Representatives of higher education institutions were the most active, submitting 8,100 applications. Another 3,200 researchers represent state research institutions, and 122 applications were submitted by representatives of private research organizations.
The largest number of applications came from researchers in:
- Kyiv—3,600;
- Kharkiv Oblast — 1,900;
- Lviv Oblast — 1,600;
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast — 718;
- Odesa Oblast — 565.
The largest number of applications came from representatives of the following fields:
- biology, biotechnology, medicine, and rehabilitation — 2,700 (20.8%);
- economic reform, business, administration, and law — 1,509 (11.6%);
- humanities and arts — 1,456 (11.2%);
- human capital development, social sciences, and journalism—899 (6.9%);
- Information technology and electronics — 875 (6.7%);
- agricultural and veterinary sciences — 874 (6.7%).
Researchers in the fields of physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering, earth sciences, energy, national security, and other scientific disciplines also submitted applications.
Verification of the information submitted by participants in the system is currently underway.
As Deputy Minister of Education and Science Denys Kurbatov noted, it is the verified results of scientific activity that will form the basis for ranking researchers.
“We have completed the first important practical stage in establishing Ukraine’s National Researcher System—the collection of information on scientific results. We are grateful to every researcher who joined the system and provided information about their own scientific achievements. Now an equally important stage begins—data verification. It is these verified results that will serve as the basis for compiling rankings and awarding state scholarships to the most productive scientists,” Kurbatov emphasized.
During registration, researchers provided information on:
- scientific publications and their citations;
- grants received;
- patents;
- international scientific collaboration;
- training of young scientists;
- other results of scientific and scientific-technical activities.
Once the evaluation is complete, the top 2,650 researchers will receive a state scholarship of 10,000 hryvnias per month for two years.
The Ministry of Education and Science clarified that half of all scholarships will be awarded to young scientists to support the development of a new generation of Ukrainian researchers.
