A new bill on the decriminalization of pornography has been introduced in the Rada

A new bill, No. 15294, on the decriminalization of adult content has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada; it is intended to dismantle the schemes of unscrupulous law enforcement officials while simultaneously increasing penalties for crimes against children.

The document replicates the provisions on the decriminalization of pornography involving consenting adults from a previous bill that had previously failed in parliament, but now significantly increases penalties for the production and distribution of child pornography

Following the previous failed attempt, the authors consulted with various factions and groups to find a compromise that would gain majority support. As a result, the new text was signed by 45 members of parliament from nearly all political parties, including the leadership of parliament and relevant committees. The MP expressed hope that this third attempt to resolve the issue would be final and successful, and also noted that due to plans to approve taxation of electronic platforms as early as next Tuesday, this issue must be considered as quickly as possible.

This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on his Telegram channel.

The Verkhovna Rada did not support the initiative to change the rules regarding liability for pornography. Bill No. 12191 provided for the abolition of criminal liability for the creation and distribution of content involving adults, but it did not receive the necessary number of votes.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported, in principle, Bill No. 15094 on basic social assistance, which provides for the creation of a new mechanism of state support for low-income citizens. The document was voted for by 235 members of parliament.
