Road workers have completed half of the road repair plan — Kuleba
Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has completed nearly half of the road repairs on state highways scheduled for completion by June 1.
This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.
According to him, over 4.4 million square meters of road surface have already been repaired.
“This is nearly half of the work on state roads scheduled to be completed by June 1,” he noted.
Kuleba added that work began earlier than usual this year and has gradually picked up pace—from 4,000–5,000 square meters per day in winter to nearly 200,000 square meters daily now.
Currently, about 200 repair crews and nearly 2,000 workers are working on the roads.
Work is underway on key routes across the country, including Kyiv–Kharkiv, Kyiv–Odesa, Kyiv–Chop, Lviv–Shehyni, and others.
In total, about 10 million square meters of road surface are planned to be repaired in 2026.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law ratifying a financial agreement between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank for €134 million, which will be allocated to the restoration and development of road infrastructure.
The State Special Transport Service (SSTS) has become the sole contractor for road repair and maintenance works in the combat zone.
