Allegro, Poland's largest online marketplace, is set to enter the Ukrainian market
The Polish marketplace Allegro is preparing to enter the Ukrainian market and plans to launch the first phase of its expansion as early as June.
This was reported by the Polish industry publication Wiadomosci Handlowe.
According to sources, the company’s entry into Ukraine will take place in several stages. In the first stage, Ukrainian buyers will be able to order goods from Polish sellers with delivery to Ukraine.
The initial launch is scheduled for June, and several hundred sellers from Poland will join the program.
The company explained that it is seeing significant growth in interest in international online commerce.
“We are seeing a clear trend toward the growth of cross-border e-commerce and increased interest from foreign customers, particularly from Ukraine,” Allegro stated.
The marketplace also announced that it is preparing a select group of Polish partners for international export. They will gain access to the Ukrainian market, which has approximately 11.5 million active e-commerce users.
According to the publication, Allegro plans to:
- develop the Allegro.ua domain;
- launch a platform for Ukrainian sellers;
- carry out full integration as early as next year.
The company intends to enter the Ukrainian market gradually, testing demand and minimizing risks following a previous unsuccessful experience with international expansion.
It is known that Nova Post will handle the delivery of goods from Poland to Ukraine.
“Packages from Polish sellers will be delivered to customers in Ukraine via Nova Post (“Nova Poshta”). This is the Ukrainian leader in the CEP market, with a stronger position in its home market than InPost has in Poland,” the publication states.
Currently, Nova Post is already actively operating in Poland and specializes primarily in parcel delivery between Ukraine and European countries.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market is seeing a noticeable shift in price trends, characterized by divergent movements in the cost of popular goods.
