Rain and thunderstorms are expected across Ukraine on May 21
On Thursday, May 21, rain and thunderstorms are expected in most regions of Ukraine, with hail and squalls possible in some areas. During the day, temperatures will reach 23–28°C, and up to 31°C in the east of the country. In the western regions, temperatures will be around 23°C.
This was reported on Facebook by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
“On May 21, summer-like unstable weather in Ukraine will continue to be caused by a low-pressure system from the south and southeast. At night, an atmospheric front will bring rain to the western, southern, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv regions, and during the day, rainfall will increase due to stronger convection, so across Ukraine, except for the northeast, we expect moderate rain with thunderstorms; in the southwestern part—in some places, heavy rain, hail, and squalls of 15–20 m/s,” the report states.
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, Thursday in Ukraine will be cloudy with some sunny intervals. There will be brief showers with thunderstorms; in the southern regions, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, and Zhytomyr regions—in some areas, heavy rain, hail, and squalls of 15–20 m/s (Level I hazard, yellow); only the northeastern part will remain dry. Forecasters warn that such weather conditions may disrupt operations at energy, construction, and utility companies, as well as transportation.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center forecasts summer heat in most regions, with only the western regions being slightly cooler: nighttime temperatures will range from 12–17°C, daytime temperatures from 23–28°C, and up to 31°C in the east of the country; in the western regions, nighttime temperatures will be 8–13°C, and daytime temperatures 18–23°C. Tomorrow’s wind will be predominantly northeasterly, 5–10 m/s.
A Level I hazard warning has been issued in Ukraine.
