The former head of the Chornomorsk Education Department and her accomplice were sentenced for bribery
The court handed down sentences to Lilia Alekseychuk, the former head of the Education Department of the Chornomorsk City Council, and Dmytro Fusu, the director of a private company, who were involved in a corruption scheme.
The former official was convicted of receiving an illegal benefit in the form of a “kickback” from a representative of a commercial entity.
Law enforcement officers caught the education official “red-handed” during the transfer of money, and now both defendants have been sentenced to probation.
According to the case file, the official received a kickback of 105,600 UAH from the director of Klimat Kontrol Service LLC.
This financial reward was clearly fixed and amounted to 10% of the total cost of the repair work that the firm performed at the request of the education department.
Law enforcement officers detained the official on May 31, 2023, while she was receiving the bribe. Investigators fully documented the transfer of funds and gathered irrefutable evidence of the guilt of both parties to the agreement.
It should be noted that the convicted Lilia Alekseychuk is a member of the Odesa City Council from the “For the Future” party.
Using her official position and political influence, she lobbied on behalf of a specific contractor.
Dmytro Fus, director of a private company, acted as a direct accomplice in carrying out this illegal financial scheme.
During the court hearing, the defense and prosecution reached an agreement on the final classification of the crime.
The court approved plea agreements between the prosecutor and the defendants in the criminal proceedings regarding the receipt of unlawful benefits.
The defendants fully admitted their guilt, sincerely repented, and cooperated with the investigation, which influenced the final decision of the court.
