An official who promised to buy a conscript out of the military registration and enlistment office for $12,000 will face trial

Officials from the State Bureau of Investigations have exposed the head of one of the district departments of the Lviv Regional Branch of the State Institution "Probation Center," who demanded a large sum of money in exchange for illegally releasing a conscript from the territorial recruitment center. 

This was reported by the SBI.

According to the investigation materials, the suspect assured a relative of the detained citizen that he had influential connections at the Shevchenkivskyi District Territorial Recruitment Center and the Lviv City Military Commissariat and promised to arrange for the man’s unimpeded release from military service. 

The perpetrator valued his corrupt services at twelve thousand dollars; however, law enforcement agencies promptly put a stop to the illegal activity. The official has now been formally charged with receiving an unlawful benefit for influencing the decision-making of public officials, which constitutes a criminal offense committed by a group of individuals acting in concert.

Under current Ukrainian law, the detainee faces imprisonment for up to five years. Representatives of the State Bureau of Investigations are continuing active investigative efforts to identify and bring to justice potential accomplices in the documented scheme, particularly among current employees of the TCC and other law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office announced that it had notified the heads of two private companies of their status as suspects for organizing a scheme of fictitious employment to evade mobilization. The two company executives are charged with obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine through schemes involving the provision of personnel to other enterprises. 

As a reminder, the organizer of a scheme to smuggle draft dodgers out of the country for $12,000 was detained in Kyiv.

Additionally, an employee of the TCC in the Chernihiv region was detained for bribery.
