UNESCO experts will arrive in Lviv to assess the damage caused by the Russian attack
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has agreed with UNESCO experts on their visit to Lviv to document the destruction and assess the damage caused by the Russian attack.
This was announced by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha.
According to him, international experts will arrive in Ukraine in the near future to conduct a detailed analysis of the consequences of the shelling.
“Experts will arrive in Ukraine in the near future to assess the damage caused by Russian terrorists,” the minister noted.
Sybiga emphasized that the strike was not aimed solely at urban infrastructure:
“Russia did not simply strike buildings in the center of Lviv. This is a strike against UNESCO’s world heritage. A direct strike against UNESCO as an organization. A strike against everyone in the world who cares about cultural heritage. We demand strong reactions.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on UNESCO to initiate cultural sanctions against Russia.
As a reminder, a massive drone attack damaged the Bernardine Monastery complex—a UNESCO World Heritage site in the center of Lviv.
On March 24, during a Russian drone attack in Lviv, the Bernardine Monastery complex, an architectural monument of national significance, was damaged.
On March 24, Russian occupiers carried out a massive attack on western regions of Ukraine using kamikaze drones. In Lviv, one of the drones struck a building in the city center, causing a fire.
This attack was part of a large-scale Russian air offensive that on March 24 swept across several regions of Ukraine, including critical infrastructure facilities in the rear regions.
