Experts predict a 20% increase in prices for chicken and eggs in December

In Ukraine, prices for chicken and eggs may increase by 15-20% by the end of 2023. This forecast was made by the executive director of the Union of Poultry Breeders of Ukraine Sergiy Karpenko. The main reason for the growth is the increase in production costs due to the use of alternative energy sources, which, in turn, increases production costs and increases the risk of losing poultry.

Karpenko also noted that despite some supply of alternative sources of electricity, the production of feed is not adapted for stable operation in conditions of constant blackouts. In November, prices for chicken and eggs may remain stable; however, they are expected to increase in December.

The situation is causing concern in the agricultural sector, as rising prices will affect consumer demand. Ukrainian agribusinesses such as MHP and Avangardco remain the leaders in production, but changes in the market may scare off potential investors and reduce production.
