A former State Emergency Service official will stand trial for embezzling 13 million hryvnias
The Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment against the former head of the State Emergency Service’s emergency rescue unit.
The official is accused of acquiring unjustified assets with a total value of nearly 13 million hryvnias.
The investigation established that between 2021 and 2023, while serving in public office, the defendant acquired property whose origin he could not explain.
The family’s legal income did not allow for purchases of this scale.
The identified assets include significant amounts of cash and a fleet of luxury vehicles. During searches, over 5 million hryvnias were seized from the suspect, which he had kept outside the banking system to conceal his actual wealth.
Law enforcement officials paid particular attention to vehicles registered under front men.
The list of assets includes a "Toyota Land Cruiser 3.3 Twin Turbo," a "Mercedes-Benz EQC 400," and a "Volkswagen Touareg" from recent model years.
To conceal the illegal origin of the assets, ownership was registered in the name of the official’s wife and trusted associates.
However, law enforcement was able to prove the defendant’s actual control over these luxury vehicles.
Expert analyses also confirmed the manipulation of financial reports.
It was found that “the declared value of these cars is significantly lower than their actual market price,” which was used to reduce suspicion on the part of tax authorities.
As a reminder, medical fraud schemes worth 100 million were uncovered in Ukraine.
Additionally, a Russian military intelligence agent who coordinated strikes was exposed in Rivne.
